Elizabeth Brown, MS, RD, CDE, CPT (a.k.a. The Kitchen Vixen) is a Registered Dietitian & Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Holistic Chef, Certified Diabetes Educator and Certified Weight Management Specialist with a personal and career emphasis in Weight Management and Sports Nutrition. She has been conducting nutrition and fitness related television interviews and cooking demos across the country including 80 nationally syndicated news stations since 1998 with more than 100 TV appearances to her name. including a guest chef appearance on the TBS show Dinner and a Movie.
Elizabeth has developed a nutrition science based cooking show called Eat2Liv. Eat2Liv is based on the idea that because nutrition is such a new science, still being “unwrapped”, it can really confuse the public about what to eat. Elizabeth has written and reviewed exercise books for Men’s Health magazine and was a contributing writer for the book Banish Your Belly. She was also the “Grocery Shopping Expert” in Men’s Health Magazine. She wrote and reviewed cook books for Prevention Magazine and her recipes and expert advice have appeared in magazines such as Fitness, Shape, and Self. She is also a monthly ontributing writer for Oxygen, a fitness magazine for women and for Clean Eating, a healthy cooking magazine. Elizabeth writes a weekly food column for the weekend edition of the Santa Monica Daily Press under the name “Kitchen Vixen." Elizabeth creates all of her recipes to be as nutrient dense as possible. As she creates, she also analyzes her ingredients using nutrition analysis software in order to ensure maximum nutrient density with each bite. Elizabeth’s recipes are designed for optimal health for athletes and for everyday people who want to look and feel their best at all times. According to former client, Peter Koral of Malibu, CA, owner of Seven Jeans, “Elizabeth’s food looks, tastes and makes you feel amazing.” Elizabeth already has a regular fan base through her column in the Santa Monica Daily Press. Not only do her readers enjoy her recipes, they also love her stories and useful information.
As an avid athlete, Elizabeth exercises daily enjoying activities such as weight lifting, running, and cycling. Throughout her 20+ year fitness career she has worked as a personal trainer and has competed in body building, powerlifting, and marathons. She also works as a fitness model including work with famous fantasy artists Boris Vallejo and Julie Belle. Through this work she has been immortalized in a bronze statue with The Franklin Mint.
Elizabeth’s television career started more than 13 years ago when she began doing nutrition related interviews and cooking demos for a nationally syndicated news company called Med-Star television. She would often write and feed news stories to the Med-Star staff over the four years they worked together. These segments where sold to nationally syndicated news stations, such as ABC, CBS and NBC, in the major metropolitan cities across the US.
Elizabeth left Allentown, PA and Med-Star in 2002 to move to the beautiful resort town of Ocean City, Maryland where she conducted weekly televised cooking demos for a non-profit organization started by the Purdue family. She also ran a private practice nutrition counseling and personal training business. While living in Maryland, Elizabeth was also an adjunct Professor of Nutrition.
Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Penn State University with a minor in Exercise Physiology. She also earned her Master’s of Science in Nutrition with an emphasis in Weight Management and Sports Nutrition from Marywood University. Her research involved the study of Water in Weight Management. She received her culinary degree from The Bauman School for Holistic Nutrition in Santa Cruz, California. Elizabeth’s culinary emphasis is based on maximizing whole foods and their disease fighting properties.
She has counseled and trained more than 10,000 clients throughout her career including political figures, celebrities, professional athletes, physicians, college professors (even her own teachers became clients), and of course thousands of people dealing with issues such as Weight Management, Diabetes, Heart Disease and Eating Disorders, just to name a few. During Elizabeth’s career, and even prior to starting her formal education, she developed and taught Weight Management and Diabetes programs for underserved populations. She has also developed and conducted sports specific nutrition programs for high school and college athletes in every sport.
Elizabeth’s goal is and has always been to motivate and educate the public about the health benefits of optimal nutrition and daily physical activity. Whether conducting television interviews, cooking demos, group lectures, one-on-one counseling or training or even helping people make ideal choices in the grocery store, Elizabeth strives to achieve her goal each and everyday.
